Getting Connected

Once you have a team loaded, the Start Battling button is enabled.

You can also use Start Battling to bring up the connection box, Most Recent Settings to repeat your most recent connection, or hubert.dnsalias.net to connect to the "official" Master Server.

For just connecting to the Master Server, leave the settings at the default (as shown above).  If you want to play a direct connect game, you'll need to have one player pick Host a Game and the rules, and the second player picks Connect to a Game, and the other player's IP address below.  See the FAQ to see which ports the host will need to open.

Once you're connected, you'll see a list of players on the left.  Also, the right side shows some information about the server, your team, and any chat messages.  The Floodcheck meter below shows how much you've been chatting - if it gets to 100%, you'll be kicked from the server.  To reduce the meter, just wait a few seconds.

When you double-click a player's name on the left, the challenge window appears.  This picture shows a hidden team -  if the team is public, you'll see their actual Pokémon.  Pick the rules you want, and press the Challenge button to challenge them.  If the window immediately closes, it means the player is busy, and you'll see a notice in the message window.  Otherwise, you can wait to see if they accept or decline the challenge.

If you are challenged, you'll see a box like this one.  You can choose to accept or refuse the challenge.  Once you accept, the battle window opens.
